Saint Bathans, formerly named Dunstan Creek, is located on the <\/span>Maniototo Plain on New Zealand’s South Island.<\/p>\n

Saint Bathans<\/span> was a coal and gold mining town, but today little remains except some historic buildings and the Blue Lake. During the 1860’s it was part of the Central Otago Gold Rush.<\/p>\n

Blue Lake is a small lake formed during gold-sluicing, which gives it a distinctive turquoise colour.<\/p>\n

The first photo was taken by The Doc on his second visit, but one which he saw on the first. However the light was not right on that occasion. To make this shot work you morning sun on the walls but not the water surface.<\/p>\n

Not much post processing on this image, but the sky needs to be darkened a little. Click image to see full size.<\/p>\n
