Not many people get to visit Brooklyn Sanctuary. Brooklyn has the greatest diversity of wildlife (500 vertebrate species) than any other single property in Australia. The Doc flew over and then drove out as part of his recent trip to Cape York. The short Report and photos are here.
The Doc has just arrived back from the 4 day heli tour of Cape York. Quite an experience. It will take a few days to sink in. Visited some very remote places, meet some interesting people and had a couple of wildlife moments, like the 14 foot croc and a swarm of thousands and thousands of metallic starlings flying in cloud formation at The Tip of Australia.

The Doc flys out to Cairns tomorrow, then onto Port Douglas on Sunday. On Monday morning he boards the helicopter for 4 days. Then he visits AWC’s Brooklyn Sanctuary, plus a few days driving around Cairns.
The 2 cyclones up north at the moment should mean lots of waterfalls 🙂
On the last trip The Doc and his friend Tony travelled around outback NSW, Queensland and South Australia. Places like the Warrumbungles, Broken Hill, Marree, the ochre pits at Lyndhurst, ruins at Farina, Arkaroola Wildness Sanctuary, Innamincka, Brachina Gorge in the Flinders Ranges, Epsilon in outback Queensland, Cameron’s Corner, Tibooburra, Menindee Lakes and lots of others.
Characters like Talc Alf, roadtrains and huge coal carrying locomotives, the odd emu and even some water in this parched part of Australia.

Just returned from a Cape York Trip visiting the AWC Sanctuary called Piccaninny Plains. Piccaninny Plains is the name of the pastoral lease if you were wondering. Report and photos here.
Off to Cape York for an AWC event at Piccaninny Plains on Saturday 23 August. Managed to get an invite due to a last minute cancellation.
First stop Cairns, then a light plane to the sanctuary on Sunday Morning.

51 years ago a G60 Patrol completed the first motorised crossing of the Mighty Simpson Desert. Today The Doc completed his crossing in the GU Patrol, as part of a larger group. We at least had a track, the original party did not. That is an achievement.
The Simpson is Patrol country.
