Outback NSW, Queensland and South Australia
On the last trip The Doc and his friend Tony travelled around outback NSW, Queensland and South Australia. Places like the Warrumbungles, Broken Hill, Marree, the ochre pits at Lyndhurst, ruins at Farina, Arkaroola Wildness Sanctuary, Innamincka, Brachina Gorge in the Flinders Ranges, Epsilon in outback Queensland, Cameron’s Corner, Tibooburra, Menindee Lakes and lots of others.
Characters like Talc Alf, roadtrains and huge coal carrying locomotives, the odd emu and even some water in this parched part of Australia.
A collection of photos from that trip.
Flight over Arkaroola and Lake Frome
Textures of the Australian Bush: Sand
The Doc has been working on a little side project which he calls Textures of the Australian Bush. There are some extraordinary colours and textures in the bush, including sand, clouds, rocks, mosses, lichens, tree bark and vegetation.
The first instalment is on Sand. These photos are from lakes, creeks and rivers in Outback New South Wales, enjoy.
The Doc has been told the Simpson Desert has an immense variety of sands.
Back on the road
The next road trip starts tomorrow. Sorry I could not finish the Kangaroo Island reports. At least 2 maybe 3 more reports to come.
Next stop the Central Coast, then the Warrumbungles, then across to Broken Hill, via Dubbo and the Western Plains Zoo. Then down to AWC’s Scotia Sanctuary in Outback NSW.
Back to Broken Hill and then a 2 week Simpson Desert crossing finishing at White Cliffs.
Then to Sydney by some long route, then on a plane to Broome. Next stop AWC’s Mornington Sanctuary in the Central Kimberly’s. Back to Sydney then out to Deniliquin for some bird photography. A bit over 2 months in total.
Track me in near real time here.
