Flinders Island

The Doc flew to Launceston in Tasmania on the first leg of the trip. A walk around Cateract Gorge was the highlight, as well as a river cruise.

Next day The Doc took a short flight across to Flinders Island on the north east tip of Tasmania in Bass Strait.

Flinders is a large Island with few visitors. Not sure why, it was a great place to visit. The Doc almost always felt he had the Island to himself, the combination of its size and small population.

Days 2 and 3 were windy limiting the photos, but allowed The Doc to explore Flinders, short report here.

The Doc stayed at Emita Cottage, a good location, roughly halfway down the island, away from the small centres of Whitemark and Lady Barron. Places visited included Cameron’s Inlet, Lady Barron, Strezlecki National Park and the wetlands.

Unfortunately the sunrise and sunset did not provide any good light. So a lot of the pictures of the beautiful like covered granites covering the coast.

The Doc spent some time studying the wildlife but has limited photos. Perhaps on the next visit. These shots are from remoter parts of the Island like North East River, Emita Beach, Settlement Point, West End and Palana.

In contrast the colours and textures did not disappoint.

Textures

Flinders Island has amazing colours and textures, wetlands (pictures here), lichens, mosses and amazing granites. He is a small selection.
