Around Broome there is a few locations where the sandstone is made from striking red and white sands. The sandstone has many thin layers, probably laid down by the wind. The fine grains strongly suggest wind, the “wind wave” pattern in some rocks is another give away. Wind can only move and layer fine sand, unlike water.
As the sandstone has weathered over time, different layers have been exposed creating exquisite colours and patterns. There is extraordinary variation in the sandstone. The samples are from 2 locations. Enjoy Part 1.
